Data Collection

Data collection has been the primary focus of ClinicNet since 2001.  The first consolidated data report was completed in March of 2002 from 2001 data.  This consolidation of data represented the first collective, quantifiable view of services provided by these clinics.  The project was funded by grant monies from Caring for Colorado Foundation, The COPIC Medical Foundation, and Rose Community Foundation resulting in the identification of twenty-two (22) independent, non-profit clinics in Colorado.  Of those, fifteen (15) or 68% participated in the data collection project. 

Results from the 2003 data collection project reflected 2002 fiscal year statistics from participating clinics and resulted in a published report.  A total of $5.3 million in donated goods and services were reported by participating ClinicNet clinics.  Medical providers, dentists, pharmacists, mental health workers and administrative personnel donated these services as well as lab work & medications provided by hospitals.  The combination of residency clinics and other private clinics provided healthcare to 50,000 patients, representing almost 275,000 services. 

HB1262/tobacco tax bill implementation was the focus of ClinicNet Steering Committee meetings and external communication in 2005.    Steering Committee members participated on work groups to ensure the interests of ClinicNet clinics were considered in the finalization of implementation details.  Clinics received periodic updates about the Primary Care Fund, eligibility and reporting requirements.  Five clinics have received funding through January 2007.

The Colorado Health Institute conducted key informant interviews with 14 ClinicNet clinics to increase the understanding of the role ClinicNet clinics play in providing health care services to the un- and underinsured.  CLICK HERE for the report entitled ClinicNet: Capabilities and Opportunities.
