In recognition of Colorado’s Community-Funded Safety Net Clinics (CSNCs) and federally certified Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), ClinicNET and the Colorado Rural Health Center invite you to join us in celebrating August 30th – September 3rd as Safety Net Clinic Week. Colorado Oral Health Summit: Fall 2010 in Aurora, CO
Statewide policymakers, government, health and educational leaders will convene in Denver this June to tackle major Colorado oral health issues such as access to dental care and workforce shortages.  The event will be hosted by Oral Health Awareness Colorado! (OHAC!), and will recognize and honor communities, organizations and individuals who have developed successful initiatives and promising practices in recent years, particularly for rural and underserved areas of the state. It will be held at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

The summit, “Charting a New Oral Health Direction for Coloradans,” will also develop recommendations for updating the state’s formal Oral Health Plan, created in 2005. It will highlight the positive changes in oral health programs and services throughout the state since the creation of the state’s first formal Oral Health Plan five years ago and emphasize the importance of good dental health to an individual’s overall health.

Keynote speakers for the summit will be Renee Samuelson, MD, a perinatal OB/GYN specialist at the Albany Medical Center Department of Pediatric who helped to write the New York prenatal oral health guidelines, and Paul Casamassimo, DDS, chief of dentistry at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital at The Ohio State University.
